Skills
Caltex is a multinational petroleum brand that specialises in the production, distribution, and marketing of fuels, lubricants, and related products.
It operates a network of service stations and provides fuel and lubricant solutions to various industries globally. Caltex is known for its high-quality products and customer-centric approach.
Website research and goals
The petroleum industry is vast and complex, especially when it comes to lubricants. Through my research, I identified the different types of lubricants and corresponding vehicle types, the volume of lubricants that are produced, and the effects that has on market trends.
Additionally, I was afforded the opportunity to speak to industry experts to discuss the importance of choosing the correct lubricant for their machinery. Through this, I was able to identify the goals of the website and how to position the user journeys.

Website design and solution
Following a thorough competitor analysis and identifying key UX features to include in the build, I then crafted the information architecture of the website as well as the user-flows. Once I received approval from the Caltex marketing team, high fidelity wireframes were created, all the pages were created for desktop and mobile. Lastly, after the wireframes were approved I moved onto UI designs where all the pages were designed, a prototype was made, and the website was presented to the marketing team and stakeholders in the business.

Features
One of the major findings in my research was that people want the best lubricant for their vehicles or machinery. As it prolongs engine life and maintains smooth performance, they don’t want the possibility of choosing the wrong lubricant. With this knowledge I developed a smart oil selector so that users always pick the correct oil for their needs.
